About Jeremy Fisher:

Growing up on a cattle farm in Northern Michigan, Jeremy Fisher learned early on that hard work isn’t just a habit—it’s a way of life. The youngest of four children born to a farmer and a store clerk, Jeremy saw firsthand the importance of grit, integrity, and community.

Driven by those values, Jeremy paved a new path for his family. In 2001, he became the first in his lineage to earn a four-year degree, and in 2016, he achieved another milestone as the first to graduate from law school. A proud “Titan,” Jeremy graduated with honors from both the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

While his professional journey is defined by the law, his life is anchored by family. In 2003, Jeremy married his college sweetheart, Jennifer. A dedicated educator with a Master’s in constitutional legal history, Jennifer has spent the last 22 years shaping minds within Warren Consolidated Schools.

The Fishers are proud residents of the community they serve. Their three children—Oliver (17), Aniela-Marie (14), and Robert (12)—all attend Warren Consolidated Schools. Their busy household is made complete by their golden retriever, Eleanor, and their two cats, Franklin and Rosie.

Jeremy Fisher is running for judge in order to put his lifetime of service, hard work, and legal experience to work for the people of Macomb County.

Legal Experience

Circuit Court judges are not specialists in any one area of the law. Judges are expected to be able to understand and rule on complex legal issues from a broad cross section of the law. Circuit Court judges handle criminal dockets, civil dockets, family law dockets, juvenile dockets and much more. The broader the legal experience an attorney brings to the bench the better prepared he/she is to hit the ground running on day one.

Jeremy Fisher comes to this race with extremely broad legal experience. He started his career working for a general practitioner who practiced in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb. Jeremy soon moved onto bankruptcy law, where he practiced in federal court. During this time Jeremy managed his own firm, Second Chance Legal Services. Jeremy was honored to be recognized multiple times by the Eastern District of Michigan Bankruptcy Court for the free legal services he provided to individuals in financial ruin.

Later in his career, Mr. Fisher worked as an associate attorney for a labor and employment law firm. During this time Mr. Fisher gained experience working on multi-million-dollar complex civil litigation, holding employers liable for blatant violations of state and federal labor laws. He also worked to protect the rights of individuals who were wrongfully terminated or sexually harassed in the workplace. Additionally, Mr. Fisher represented several labor unions in state and administrative court hearings.

For the last 7 years, Mr. Fisher has proudly served the People of the State of Michigan as an assistant Macomb County Prosecutor. He has prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases in district courts throughout the county. He currently is assigned to work in the circuit court as the assigned prosecutor to Judges Yokich and Dennings. He deals with complex issues of custody, parenting time and support, and assists with felony prosecution of parents who refuse to comply with court ordered child support. Additionally, he is assigned to the Child Support Specialty Court which he proposed and helped develop and launch.

Mr. Fisher stands out above the crowd as the only attorney with the broad experience necessary to serve as your next Macomb County Circuit Court Judge.

Why Jeremy is Running:

01

Child Support Specialty Court

Jeremy was the man behind the creation of this innovative new court. This court was designed to help individuals charged with felony failure to pay child support to get back to work and back on track. Jeremy proposed its creation and then worked with the elected prosecutor, the courts, and other stakeholders to design this first in the nation specialty court. In fact, this program was so innovative that it recently won the county an award from the National Association of Counties.

02

Youthful Offender Specialty Court

If elected, Jeremy would like to launch a Youthful Offender Specialty Court in Macomb County. The Court would be designed for individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 who are charged with low level non-violent felonies. The Court would provide more intensive supervision than currently provided under HYTA, providing mentors, counselling, and progressive discipline for mistakes made. The Program would team with the Union Building Trades, local community colleges, and adult education services to provide a path to employment and a good job.

03

Life Experience

It cannot be overstated how important a person’s life experience prior to their time on the bench is to create a well-balanced judge. A person needs the proper work experience, but the challenges they have faced and overcame in their path to the bench is just as important. Jeremy didn’t grow up in a family of attorneys. Instead, he grew up in poverty. Jeremy was the first in his family to graduate college. He had to work two or three jobs every summer just to have enough money to return to college each fall. He knows what struggle feels like.

04

Support for Organized Labor

Jeremy is proud of is strong support of organized labor for the last two decades. He has represented labor unions as an attorney, walked picket lines as a volunteer, and offered political trainings as a supporter. Jeremy believes that strong labor unions are a key to as strong society. He also understands the positive impact that labor unions can make if they are allowed to partner with some of our specialty courts.

05

Community Service

Jeremy isn’t running for this position because he wants a title or a paycheck. He is running because he wants to continue his service to the people of Macomb County. Jeremy has a long history of public service in Macomb. He currently serves as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the county, as well as a volunteer election commissioner for the City of Warren. He has previously served on the Zoning Board, on charitable boards, and as a youth flag football coach.

06

Fairness

Jeremy doesn’t just say that he wants the courts to be fair, he lives it. He has worked as a prosecutor to be balanced and strive for equity and equality. Jeremy understands that every case has real people involved. This isn’t just paper to be shuffled. Every decision by a judge has a real-life impact on someone’s life. How much time a defendant will spend in jail, whether a victim will receive restitution, whether a parent will see their child. There are real life consequences behind these decisions. Jeremy’s reputation for fairness has earned him the support of judges, bipartisan elected officials, local non-partisan elected officials, and labor organizations.
